Hamilton alumnus nominates Hinytz for MSOE award

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) will present Hamilton High School social studies teacher Lori Hinytz with its Award for High School Teaching Excellence.

Hamilton 2009 graduate Eric C. Larson nominated Hinytz because, in her role as Charger Robotics Team 537 advisor, she inspired him to pursue his interest in engineering at MSOE.

”Always a strong leader, she helped us all stay focused as we learned the mechanical, electrical and computer skills necessary to make a competitive robot,” Larson wrote in his nomination. “I can confidently say she has been a major influence on my life for the past 8 years.”

“At a time of much concern over the educational skills and competencies of our nation’s young people, MSOE wishes to recognize high school teachers who have had a significant influence on their students’ future educational achievement and career goals,” noted MSOE Dean of Students and Vice President Patrick J. Coffey.

Hinytz was invited to attend the MSOE’s spring commencement exercises May 25 at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. She will be recognized and presented with a plaque from the school.
