Hamilton DECA earns 28 awards at district competition, qualifies 14 for state

Members of Hamilton High School DECA earned 28 awards and qualified 14 students for state competition recently. A total of 46 students represented Hamilton at the Jan. 8 Southeastern Wisconsin Career Development Conference at Kettle Moraine High School. The event drew more than 800 students from southeastern Wisconsin who competed in 15 different categories of business and marketing management.
 
The following Hamilton students earned medals and qualified for state competition in their respective series:
  • Sarah Bregant, first place overall trophy and five medals, food marketing;
  • Brooke Ihlefeld and Lauren Wirsbinski, second place overall trophy and three medals, business law-ethics team;
  • Vy Nguyen, finalist and three medals, apparel and accessories marketing;
  • Kartik Ayalasomayajula, three medals, retail merchandising;
  • Cody Neverman, one medal, apparel and accessories marketing;
  • Clayton VanDerLinden, one medal, food marketing;
  • Elizabeth Fricke, two medals, hotel and lodging management;
  • Tyler Rudzinski, two medals, quick service restaurant management;
  • Nicole Kopish and Tyler Gilmore, one medal, hospitality services marketing team;
  • Pajying Moua, one medal, principles of marketing;
  • Sree Karri, one medal, food marketing management; and
  • Brittany Paa, one medal, quick service restaurant management;
 
Also earning a medal was the team of Mandes Stoner and Sean McGiverin in the travel and tourism team series
 
The chapter received the “Acts of Kindness” award for its Adopt-A-Classroom activity where chapter members take holiday gifts to inner city children.
 
The State DECA Career Development Conference will be held March 8-10 at the Grand Geneva Resort and Conference Center in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
