Templeton teacher honored for service to country

Templeton seventh grade communication arts teacher Patricia Fry now has the signatures of two U.S. presidents in acknowledgement of her service to the country. Previously, she received the President’s Volunteer Service Silver Medal Award, a certificate signed by former President George Bush, for volunteering 250-499 hours with Marine Parents, Inc. She recently received another certificate, this one signed by President Barack Obama, for contributing another 410 hours to Marine Parents, Inc.

The recognition is from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, in conjunction with the Corporation for National & Community Service and the USA Freedom Corps.

MarineParents.com is a Web site that offers message boards and chat rooms that support families who have a loved one in the Marines. Fry, who has a son in the Marines, has served as a chat room moderator since 2006 spending hundreds of hours each year in chat rooms that provide information and encouragement for Marine families.
