Woodside hosts pizza night for dads and kids

Woodside Elementary School will kick off a father involvement program Jan. 27 with Dads and Kids Pizza Night. The event will invite fathers and father-figures to participant in the school’s new WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program.

The goal of the initiative is to increase volunteerism and engagement of male role models at the school. Fathers and father-figures will be invited to spend meaningful time with their children in the school setting and gain a greater awareness of the positive impact they have on students’ lives. They will be asked to sign up to spend one day this year volunteering. They may contribute in a wide variety of ways including welcoming students during arrival, reading to classes, tutoring small groups of students, having fun at recess, connecting with students during lunch or sharing information about their careers and experiences.

WATCH D.O.G.S was developed through the National Center for Fathering. It has spread to more than 800 school and 30 states.

The Dads and Kids Pizza Night will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the school located at W236 N7465 Woodside Road, Sussex.
