Hamilton High School DECA members brought home 24 medals Jan. 9 from competition at the Southeastern Wisconsin Career Development Conference at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales. A dozen students earned medals and eight of them qualified for state-level competition in March. State qualifiers are Riya Talwar, Sarah Bregant, Andrew Perego, Vy Nguyen, Brooke Ihlefeld, Lauren Wirsbinski, Daniel Waddell and Robert Wiedenfeld.
The following were recognized in their respective categories:
• Kelly Rodenkirk and Tracy Young, hospitality services team, economics case study;
• Kartik Ayalasomayajula, retail merchandising, math-economics test;
• Marcus Paulson – retail merchandising – math-economics test and comprehensive exam;
• Daniel Waddell and Robert Wiedenfeld – buying and merchandising team – distribution case study;
• Brooke Ihlefeld and Lauren Wirsbinsky – business law and ethics – case study;
• Vy Nguyen – apparel and accessories marketing – management and entrepreneurship role play and comprehensive exam;
• Andrew Perego – food marketing – math-economics test and comprehensive exam, overall finalist;
• Sarah Bregant – food marketing – both tests, both role plays,second place overall; and
• Supriya Talwar – business services – both tests, both role plays, first place overall.
The Hamilton chapter also was one of five schools that earned the “Acts of Kindness” award for its annual Adopt-A-Classroom holiday activities at LaFollette Elementary School in Milwaukee.
