Charger band concludes its most successful season

The Hamilton High School Charger Marching Band finished its competitive season in style Oct. 17 at the Wisconsin State Marching Band Championships. The state competition was held at Perkins Stadium on the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater campus.

The band completed its best competitive season by placing fourth in class AAAA and eighth place overall among 33 performing bands from Wisconsin. It also received its best score to date, an 82.5, and received a first division award.

The Wisconsin School Music Association divides bands into four entry classes determined by total school enrollment. An eight-judge panel evaluates bands in five areas: music performance, visual performance, general effect, percussion and color guard.

“The band and band staff would like to thank parents and the community for all the support we have received this year,” Charger Band Director Jon Waite said.

“It was an exciting year in which students far exceeded expectations that were set at the beginning of the season,” he said.

The band now looks forward to the concert band season which it will kick off Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with its annual holiday concert in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center. Further details can be found at www.chargerband.org or by calling the band office at (262) 246-6471 x1717.
