Hamilton High School senior earns Kohl scholarship

Hamilton High School senior Jaclyn Michl was one of 200 Wisconsin students who were awarded the 2009 Kohl Excellence Scholarship, sponsored by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. The scholarship is given to high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in academics with high motivation to achieve, displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond. Michl will receive $1,000 to pursue postsecondary education.

Recipients are selected by a statewide committee composed of civic leaders and representatives of education-related associations and the program’s co-sponsors: The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools and regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies.

The Kohl Education Foundation was established in 1990 by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl. To date the foundation has awarded $6.8 million to Wisconsin educators, students and schools.

“Education is the key to the future of Wisconsin and our nation. I am very proud of the accomplishments of the students and teachers, and look forward to the great contributions they will make in the future ,” Kohl said.
