Maple Avenue students plant tree with custodian

In honor of Arbor Day, students in Jean Jackson’s first grade classroom teamed up with school custodian Ed Giese April 24 to plant a tree on school grounds. It is the third year that Giese has helped first-graders plant a tree. This year, Lied’s Nursery donated a beautiful flowering crab, which all the Maple Avenue children will be able to watch grow and change with the seasons.

The tree was planted it in a courtyard area right off the playground. Maple Avenue Elementary School is located at W240 N6059 Maple Ave., Sussex.
