Lannon Elementary School fourth-graders will present a Immigrant Wax Museum at the Milwaukee Public Museum on March 16 from 10 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the European Village. As an added bonus for the students, a museum donor has made it possible for the students to see the Titanic Artifact Exhibition while they are there.
Students have researched why immigrants left their old countries, what the trip to America entailed, arrival in America and the final journey to Wisconsin to begin a new life.
Each student will read a letter written to friends or family left behind in their old country. They will be in costume and have a display board of information and pictures. Several students have written their letter from the perspective of an immigrant aboard the Titanic on its maiden voyage.
Parents and community members are encouraged to see the students’ immigrant project. The Milwaukee Public Museum is located at 800 West Wells St., Milwaukee.
