Hamilton High School marketing students involved in the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) attended a statewide leadership workshop July 24-26 for local chapter officers. Hamilton’s DECA officers who attended the 34th annual Chapter Officer Workshop (COW) held on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus were Halley Greeneway, Holly Rindfleisch, Kelly Rodenkirk, Sarah Vowels and Carson Leet.
COW is a three-day leadership lab designed to encourage networking, exchange of ideas and goal-setting for individual chapters. The main goal for Hamilton DECA this year will be to increase membership participation, especially in competitions.
Attendees participated in the second annual Amazing Race. Competitors used teamwork to complete six activities on the Madison campus, such as rafting, pitching a two-person tent at Camp Randall so that five people could eat s’mores inside and flipping a hamburger and pizza dough crust on State Street.
Other activities included a t-shirt fashion show, a chapter tradeshow and a Miracle Minute that raised more than $250 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association — DECA’s charity of choice. Hamilton’s Carson Leet received an award for having the most spirit at the workshop.
