The essays of two Templeton Middle School students tied for first place in the Patriotic Pen Essay Contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). The Horne Mudlitz VFW and its auxiliary awarded eighth-grader Julie Posh and seventh-grader Sarah Germer $50 each and honored them at a banquet where they read their essays.
Eighth-grader Jamie Kronberger won second place and $25 for her essay, and seventh-grader Amy Walsh won $15 for her third place essay. The Sussex Cousin’s Shop donated $2 certificates to all students who wrote essays.
