Lannon students to present at Milwaukee Public Museum

Fourth grade students in Nancy Collopy and Katie Bernard’s classes will present a Wax Museum of Immigrants at the Milwaukee Public Museum on March 26 from 10 a.m. until 1:45 p.m.

The students chose immigrants as their research topic, and worked at school researching information, writing presentations and creating display boards. They learned why people wanted to come to America and what the journey and passing through Ellis Island was like. They uncovered old passports, citizenship papers and photos of the great immigration period.

The students and teachers invite community members to attend and see their work in the museum’s European Village. They will read letters in costume that they wrote to fictitious friends or family they left behind in their home countries.

The Milwaukee Public Museum is located at 800 West Wells St., Milwaukee.
