Templeton student winner in WASB book contest

Templeton Middle School student Kirsten Fischer will be honored Oct. 17 at the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) regional meeting for earning second place among sixth- through eighth-graders in a book-writing contest.

Fischer was one of more than 200 students in five grade level categories who submitted an original entry for the Write and Illustrate Your Own Picture Book Contest. Her book, “Little Blue Riding Hood and the Revenge of the Three Little Pigs,” will be among the winning books displayed during the WASB fall regional meeting.

The contest is open to all students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Students write an original story, draw the illustrations and bind the book into a finished product.

As a winner, Fischer will receive a cash prize, a certificate of commendation and recognition during the WASB Region 15 dinner meeting held at the Country Inn in Pewaukee.
