Lannon students jump for heart health

Lannon Elementary School students raised more than $3,500 for the American Heart Association through a “Jump Rope for Heart” event March 24.

Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders collected donations and learned about different jump rope skills and other heart-healthy activities throughout the month of March. The unit concluded with “Jump Rope for Heart,” an after-school event. Students participated in various jump rope competitions, such as backwards jumps, cross jumps and team jumps. The students who lasted for the longest amount of time won a prize.

Prizes were also awarded to students for collecting donations. The top three collectors were Jessica Neumann, Emily Mertes and Benjamin Kinowski.
