Templeton raises funds through basketball tourney

Templeton Middle School students raised $3,701 April 3 and 4 for the American Heart Association through a “Hoops for Heart” basketball tournament.

Fitness education teacher Lisa Strauss, sixth grade teacher Larry Shurilla and other fitness education staff members organized a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in which 96 student participated. “Hoops for Heart” is a basketball version of the popular “Jump Rope for Heart” event in which students strive to improve their physical health by playing basketball.

Strauss said the students gave an amazing effort for the American Heart Association and their own health.
