Get Connected offers session for parents on Internet safety

Parents are invited to learn about the dangers of the Internet and how to protect their children through a free Get Connected session. Back by popular demand is Eric Szatkowski, a special agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation, who presented a Get Connected parent session in January. Szatkowski will speak to parents April 12 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Large Group Area at Templeton Middle School, N59 W22490 Silver Spring Road, Sussex.

Szatkowski will help parents keep up with what their children have access to on the Web and provide advice on how to keep them safe. Szatkowski is assigned to the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Milwaukee. He is one of the nation’s leading undercover officers in apprehending sexual predators who use the Internet to seduce or exploit children.

The Get Connected Parent Network is designed to help parents navigate children through their school years by providing:

  • age-appropriate information;
  • networking with other parents;
  • presentations from professionals; and
  • guidance and support.

The topic is different than what is listed on the Get Connected cards that were distributed to parents in the fall. For more information about the Get Connected Program, please contact Kristin Hasbrook at (246) 1973 ext. 1128.
