Woodside students take bridge-building challenge

Woodside Elementary School fourth-graders took the challenge. Using three pounds of thin spaghetti and glue, they attempted to build a bridge that would support a 16-ounce can of Bush’s Baked Beans for three minutes.

Added to the challenge was to build a bridge with the longest span. Fourth-graders are learning about concepts such as span, support, stress point and strongest shape.

The public is invited to see these fantastic spaghetti structures on display Nov. 8-23 in the Woodside library and lobby display case. Woodside is located at W236 N7465 Woodside Rd., Sussex.
