Willow Springs Learning Center students will celebrate the Thanksgiving season Nov. 15-19 with a special fine arts program that will culminate with four student performances.
Students in the half-day 4-year-old kindergarten program will engage in activities based on the Gail Gibbons’ Thanksgiving story. Music educator, composer and consultant Sylvia Wallach will work with students in their classrooms throughout the week incorporating history, literature, movement and music into the fine arts experience for children. The program is designed to provide students with kinesthetic, visual and auditory learning experiences that help them understand the abstract concept of the first Thanksgiving. Wallach created an event tailored to the 4-year-olds.
Culminating performances are scheduled Nov. 19 at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. for students and their families. Families of Willow Springs students will be invited to share a festive snack after each performance.
Wallach’s residency at Willow Springs and the special events were made possible through a Hamilton Education Foundation fine arts grant.
Willow Springs is located at W220 N6660 Town Line Rd., Menomonee Falls.
