The deadline for suburban students wishing to apply for enrollment in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) through the Chapter 220 Program is Nov. 24.
The sign-up procedure has changed this year. Parents must apply and meet the criteria of the specific school and then apply to participate in the Chapter 220 Program by the Nov. 24 deadline. In the past, the application deadline for the Chapter 220 Program was later.
Most MPS schools with specialized curricula — such as Milwaukee School of the Arts, Rufus King, Golda Meier Elementary, Elm Creative Arts School and language immersion schools — require specific tests or auditions.
Chapter 220 and Human Relations Coordinator Erica Bova-Brown has additional information about the application process for individual MPS schools and the Chapter 220 Program. She can be reached at (262) 246-6471 ext. 1170 or bovaer@hamilton.k12.wi.us. Applications can be mailed or people may pick them up at Hamilton High School, W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex.
