Woodside students earn honors in PP&K event

Several Woodside Elementary School students earned local honors in the National Football League’s (NFL) Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition this fall. They include:

  • Cassidy Schliz, first place in the girls age 8-9 category;
  • Alise Brown, first place girls 10-11;
  • Jacob Knueppel, first place boys 8-9;
  • Mackenzie Rink, first place boys 10-11;
  • Lauren Lehman, second place girls 8-9;
  • Stephanie Gouin, second place girls 10-11;
  • Sam Eckert, second place boys 8-9;
  • Stephen Sexton, second place boys 10-11;
  • Taylor Wirsbinski, third place girls 8-9;
  • Jessica Rupnow, third place girls 10-11;
  • Avery Jones, third place boys 8-9;
  • Cody King, third place boys 10-11;

Every year more than 3.5 million youngsters compete nationwide in the Punt Pass & Kick program to showcase their talents in punting, passing and kicking with scores based on distance and accuracy. Boys and girls compete in local, sectional, team and national finals. Each NFL city hosts a Team Championship in its stadium before the game or at halftime to determine those eligible for National Finals at an NFL playoff game in January.
