Hamilton Girls Volleyball earns team academic award

The Hamilton High School 2003 Varsity Girls Volleyball Team earned the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The award is issued to any high school, junior college, college or university whose varsity team members averaged at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) scale for the 2003-04 academic year.

Hamilton Girls Volleyball Coach Bill Serb is a AVCA member and nominated his team for its effort to be successful on the court and in the classroom. His 16-member team had an impressive 3.5 team GPA. The team average factors in individual GPAs of any girl who played at least one game at the varsity level last year.

Hamilton was one of only 10 Wisconsin high school volleyball teams to earn the award for the 2003-04 school year.

“The AVCA Team Academic Award captures the true essence of the student-athlete, and the AVCA is honored to recognize these schools for excellence in the classroom,” Katherine McConnell, AVCA executive director said.
