Hamilton students raise money in Hoops For Heart

Hamilton High School students raised nearly $1,500 to fight the nation’s No. 1 killers – heart disease and stroke – when they participated in Hoops for Heart. Some 250 Hamilton students recently participated in the event sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Hoops for Heart allowed students to display their basketball skills and show their support for cardiovascular research. Students engaged in physical activity and made the connection that exercise can be fun and contribute to the improvement of America’s health.

Students raised $1,480 in Hamilton’s third annual Hoops For Heart event.

Jerry Cilbulka, Hamilton High School physical education teacher and Hoops for Heart coordinator, acknowledged participants’ generous donations and efforts to decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke. He encouraged students to take charge of their health and wellness through daily exercise and healthy eating habits.
