Templeton hosts cultural celebration Feb. 24

Approximately 200 Templeton Middle School eighth-graders will learn the significance of celebrations held in various world cultures as their school hosts its own Mardis Gras and Carnaval. The Templeton cafeteria will be the site Feb. 24 from 1:45 p.m. to 2:35 p.m. for eighth grade students in French, German and Spanish classes to experience the excitement of these traditional holidays.

Students will change into traditional costumes and enter a costume contest with the winners crowned king and queen. Each class will prepare a representative banner featuring its language of study. Students also will prepare small “floats” that will be paraded at the event and entered into a contest. Authentic food and music from various cultures that celebrate Mardis Gras and Carnaval will be highlighted at the school celebration.

Templeton Middle School is located at N59 W22490 Silver Spring Rd., Sussex.
