Marcy to celebrate Read Across America

Marcy Elementary School students will join millions of children across the country March 2-5 in celebrating Read Across America, the nation’s largest reading event.

Marcy students will enjoy an all-school assembly honoring the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss March 2 from 8:50 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. They will sing happy birthday to the famous author who was born Theodor Seuss Geisel on March 2, 1904. They also will sing Dr. Seuss songs and listen to professional narrator Jerry Bertram read a Dr. Seuss story.

Later on March 2, from 2:45 p.m. to 3:10 p.m., all students and staff will assemble to make a giant chain around the edges of the library and read to one another. Older and younger classes are paired to form book buddies, and the big buddies will read to the little buddies.

Students and staff will be dressed as imaginative and interesting characters with book in hand throughout the day March 5 as the school encourages them to dress as their favorite storybook character.

Marcy Elementary School is located at W180 N4851 Marcy Rd., Menomonee Falls.
