Woodside celebrates science

Woodside Elementary School will kick off a celebration of science Jan. 14 with the appearance of noted science educator Mr. K, also known as Larry Kundinger. Kundinger will highlight current concepts of the curriculum, give motivational insights into science careers and will include multicultural and gender contributions to science.

Kundinger will present three separate programs geared to the curriculum of the grade levels. The presentations are for:

  • second and third grades — 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.;
  • fourth and fifth grades — 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; and
  • kindergartners and first grade — 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Kundinger’s programs will kick off Woodside’s celebration of science that culminates Feb. 12 when students present their projects from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the annual Science Fair. Features of the fair include: fourth and fifth grade investigations that use the scientific method; third-graders’ experiments, demonstrations and unique inventions; second grade space-related projects; first grade animal posters; and kindergarten life-cycle posters and dioramas.

Woodside is located at W236 N7465 Woodside Rd., Sussex.
