Kindergartners get set for lively Jim Gill concert

Hamilton School District students from 4-year-old and 5-year-old kindergarten classes will gather Oct. 10 at 9:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. for active children’s concerts featuring Jim Gill. Five-year-old kindergarten students from Lannon, Maple Avenue, Marcy and Woodside elementary schools will join with the 4-year-old kindergartners at the Willow Spring Learning Center to enjoy the concerts that are funded with a grant from the Hamilton Education Foundation.

Gill, a popular children’s musician from Oak Park Ill., is a trained child development specialist who uses “music play” to celebrate jumping, singing, tongue-twisting, rhyming and play. His recordings have earned Parents’ Choice Awards and received honors from the American Library Association.

Gill travels throughout the country leading music play concerts at schools, libraries, theaters and museums. His goal is to make each concert feel as though everyone is playing together in the living room — even though it might be a room filled with 100 or 500 people. He also speaks nationwide to early childhood educators and child care providers about play and its value in the lives of children and the adults who care for them.

Willow Springs Learning Center is located at W220 N6660 Town Line Rd., Menomonee Falls.
