The Hamilton School Board has given its approval for a $94.4 million budget that will be presented to voters at the August 17 Annual Meeting. Residents are invited to learn more about the 2026-27 Hamilton School District budget during the Budget Hearing which begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center prior to the Annual Meeting.
The mill rate is projected to be $6.56 per $1,000 of equalized property value. That is 12 cents less than the 2025-26 rate. Expenses are increasing primarily because of salary increases tied to inflation (CPI) and a 15% increase in the cost of health insurance benefits. For each $100,000 of property owned, homeowners will pay $656 to support the Hamilton School District.
The owner of a home valued at $400,000 should expect to pay $2,624 in school property taxes.
The budget is 4.13% more than the 2025-26 budget and assumes property values will increase 5.99% and state aid will decrease 1.88%.
The levy voters will be asked to approve at the Annual Meeting is $44.1 compared to $42.4 million in 2025-26.
Residents can learn more about the district budget on August 17 beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Budget Hearing in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center, W220N6151 Town Line Road, Sussex. The Annual Meeting will immediately follow. Residents vote on the tax levy at the Annual Meeting.
