Hamilton hosts Chamber members, highlights workforce development

Hamilton High School hosted members of The Chamber on March 18, bringing together educators and local business leaders to strengthen connections between schools and industry. The event serves as a networking opportunity for professionals from northern Waukesha County. This gathering also gave business leaders a closer look at the innovative ways high school students are being prepared for success beyond graduation.

“Opportunities like these are incredibly valuable because they give local business leaders a true behind-the-scenes look at the intentional work happening inside Hamilton’s classrooms,” explains The Chamber Executive Director Aaron Miller. “The Hamilton School District continues to make significant investments in preparing students for their next path in life, whichever that may be, post-secondary or career. It was incredible to see how ready these students were. It was very impressive. A number of people mentioned to me during the tour that this was nothing like we had in high school,” Miller adds.

The meeting also included a roundtable-style discussion and information on how local businesses can play an active role in shaping the future workforce by engaging with students through mentorship programs, mock interviews, job shadowing and youth apprenticeships.

“We appreciate the opportunity to showcase the amazing things happening in our classrooms,” shares Hamilton High School Associate Principal and Extended Learning Coordinator Marquea Goike. “Our staff at Hamilton go so far beyond teaching a certain subject matter. These talented educators work hard to ensure students are career ready and informed about the wide range of opportunities available to them after graduation.”

“What I found encouraging was that teachers have worked in the industries of content areas they are now teaching,” explains Quad Manufacturing Org Manager of Apprenticeships and Workforce Development Nate Butt. “I also think the more pathways we can introduce high school students to, the better,” he adds. “Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical careers and healthcare. The future needs will be high for all those jobs.”

Hamilton High School administration appreciates the strong turnout and engagement from Chamber members and community partners. Their participation helped reinforce a shared commitment to supporting student success and strengthening the local economy.
