Templeton associate principal chosen for state honor

Templeton Middle School (TMS) Associate Principal Cody Leland was selected as the 2024-25 Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC) Junior and Middle School (JAM) Administrator of the Year. The award recognizes Leland for his exceptional support of Templeton Middle School’s Student Council.

“Mr. Leland is the epitome of what it means to lead with heart and his unwavering commitment to our students makes him a truly deserving recipient of this honor,” explains Templeton Middle School Student Council Advisor Mary Caucutt. “He leads by example, modeling strength, integrity, and positivity in every action,” she adds.

Leland is incredibly honored to receive this award. “Our Templeton Middle School Student Council is an amazing organization that provides students with countless opportunities to hone their leadership skills,” shares Leland. “This award is a celebration of our entire Bulldog community and the many ways in which we support one another.”

“Mr. Leland is a very deserving recipient,” explains WASC Executive Director Bjorn Berg. “What stood out to me and the committee was not only his passion for working with students but his commitment to creating a safe space for young leaders to try, fail, learn, try again, and succeed,” he adds. “Developing student leaders doesn’t stop when the school day ends, and Cody’s dedication to providing leadership opportunities both within and outside of the school day demonstrate his heart for kids, his love of teaching, and his unwavering belief in the potential of all students.

TMS Principal Brad Hoffmann calls Leland an invaluable asset to both students and staff. “There are simply not enough words to describe Mr. Leland’s impact on Templeton Middle School,” says Hoffmann. “He is an inspirational leader and a tireless advocate. His ability to foster a positive, supportive school culture is unparalleled and his efforts have significantly contributed to the school’s reputation for excellence.”

Mr. Leland’s leadership isn’t about being in the spotlight,” Caucutt adds. “It is about empowering others to shine. He gives our students the respect they deserve, allowing them to grow into the confident, capable leaders of tomorrow.”

Leland will formally accept the award at the 2025 WASC State Conference on April 6 in Madison, Wisconsin.
