More than 40 Hamilton High School students attended the Wisconsin Education Fair (WEF) on Oct. 16 at New Berlin West High School. Representatives from more than one-hundred colleges, universities, vocational schools and the military helped students explore options for their futures beyond high school.

“I was really impressed with how our students took initiative, talking to college representatives and asking thoughtful questions,” said Hamilton High School Counselor Tricia Rigg. “It was clear they were eager to learn about schools they hadn’t had the chance to visit yet and this experience gave them a deeper understanding of their options after high school.”
During WEF, students were able to talk with admissions counselors, learn about scholarship opportunities and receive financial aid information.
Hamilton High School sophomore Dan Eesley says the visit opened his eyes to opportunities he had not considered. “It was such a great opportunity! I got to talk with schools I hadn’t even considered before,” explains Eesley. “Purdue University and Winona State University were super fun to visit with!”
Wisconsin Education Fairs, Inc. was created in 1978 with the goals of coordinating and improving the flow of information about post-secondary educational opportunities to high school students in Wisconsin.
“I haven’t had time to visit a lot of campuses, but this gave me a good idea of what they offer. It made me excited to explore more options for after high school,” said Hamilton High School sophomore Izzy Hiatt-Luckett.
