The Hamilton School Board has given its approval for an $80.8 million budget that will be presented to voters at the August 19 Annual Meeting. Residents are invited to learn more about the 2024-25 Hamilton School District budget during the Budget Hearing which begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center prior to the Annual Meeting.
The mill rate is projected to be $7.06 per $1,000 of equalized property value. That is 15 cents more than the 2023-24 rate. The increase in expenses is a result of enrollment growth, rising costs due to inflation and expenses due to the referendums approved by voters in April. The owner of a home valued at $400,000 should expect to pay $2,824 in school property taxes.
The budget is 9.34% more than the 2023-24 budget and assumes property values will increase 6% and state aid will increase 6.41%.
The levy voters will be asked to approve at the Annual Meeting is $41.5 million compared to $38.4 million in 2023-24.
Residents can learn more about the district budget August 19 beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Budget Hearing in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center, W220N6151 Town Line Road, Sussex. The Annual Meeting will immediately follow. Residents vote on the tax levy at the Annual Meeting.
