Support Staff

Long-term Substitute Paraprofessional – Math Intervention, Maple Avenue Elementary School

General Summary:

  • Maple Avenue Elementary School
  • Grades 5K-4
  • One position available
  • 22 hours/week

Position Goal: Ability to work with diverse student population; under the direction of the classroom teacher and math specialist, provide in-class support and pull-out intervention to elementary students in the area of mathematics; assist teachers in preparing classroom materials; supervision of students and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate degree (or higher, teacher certification desirable), or high school graduation; instructional assistant certificate preferable; and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Paraprofessional – Special Education, Lannon Elementary School, 2020-21 School Year

General Summary:

  • 5.75 hours/day, 5 days/week
  • One position available

Position Goal: To assist the teacher or other certified personnel in achieving teaching objectives by working with students with special education needs in special education classroom and/or small group settings. Other responsibilities include support students with special needs in the general education classroom, facilitate effective communication between the special and general education teaching staff, and assist students with special needs with medical and/or daily living needs.

Qualifications: Knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, mathematics and writing instruction; successful work experience in working with young children, special education students preferred; experience helping students with emotional regulation and sensory processing issues preferred but not required; ability to use word processing/computer equipment; certification (or certifiable) by DPI as a Special Education Program Aide; Two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s degree (or higher), or high school  graduation and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.
