Support Staff

Available positions:

Paraprofessional – Special Education, Woodside Elementary School, 2021-22 School Year

General Summary:

  • Woodside Elementary School
  • Grades K5-4
  • 5.75 hours/day, 5 days/week
  • One position available

Position Goal: To assist the teacher or other certified personnel in achieving teaching objectives by working with students with special education needs in special education classroom and/or small group settings. Other responsibilities include support students with special needs in the general education classroom, facilitate effective communication between the special and general education teaching staff, and assist students with special needs with medical and/or daily living needs.

Qualifications: Knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, mathematics and writing instruction; successful work experience in working with young children, special education students preferred; experience helping students with emotional regulation and sensory processing issues preferred but not required; ability to use word processing/computer equipment; certification (or certifiable) by DPI as a Special Education Program Aide; Two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s degree (or higher), or high school  graduation and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Qualifications: Ability to work with diverse student population; two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate degree (or higher, teacher certification desirable), or high school graduation and knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics; and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assist students on an individual basis or in small groups with academic and/or social skills; assist teachers in preparing classroom materials and aid in correcting papers; supervise students on the playground and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults, ability to communicate instructions and directions clearly and effectively to students, experience working with computers, possess strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and organization skills; previous work in a classroom setting and/or teaching experience preferred.
