It’s “Book Fair at the Beach!” at Woodside Elementary School where students, parents and staff are getting ready for the Scholastic Book Fair March 26 – 30. The book fair is a fun-filled book sale and literacy event geared to excite children about reading and learning. The Scholastic Book Fair will offer the most popular books and educational products for all ages, including the newest titles, award-winners, classics and interactive products from more than 150 publishers.
The Scholastic Book Fair will kick off with a family event March 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. including door prizes and a visit from a famous book character. The book fair also will be open March 27-30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
One of the book fair’s primary goals is to help teachers build classroom libraries. Visitors to the fair can check each teacher’s classroom wish list, then purchase and donate a requested book — helping teachers develop a rich array of learning resources for community children. In addition, Woodside will support the “One for Books” drive in which Scholastic matches donations made to the following charities: Kids in Distressed Situations, National Center for Family Literacy and Toys for Tots. Woodside Student Council also will conduct a book drive during the week of the book fair. Gently-used books may be dropped in containers at school and will be donated to Next Door, which provides them to students in Milwaukee schools.
Woodside Elementary School is located at W236 N7465 Woodside Road, Sussex.
