Service begins on Monday, June 20 and ends on Friday, July 15. Students must be enrolled in the Summer Opportunities Program from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to ride either the shuttle bus or the Dairyland bus both ways. Pick-up and drop-off stops for students must be at the same location. Due to limited capacity, students are not allowed to take the bus to or from school with other students if it is not their assigned stop. Parents must not leave their children unattended at bus stops. Parents must provide transportation for students entering 4K during the 2016-17 school year.
Shuttle buses will be available to transport students to and from Hamilton High School at no charge. The shuttle buses will begin to load at 8 a.m. and leave promptly at 8:15 a.m. from Village Park in Sussex and Lannon, Marcy and Woodside elementary schools. The shuttle buses will transport students to Hamilton High School only. After summer school, the shuttle buses will transport these students back to Village Park, Lannon, Marcy and Woodside elementary schools, arriving at approximately 11:45 a.m. Please pick up promptly. In order to reserve a spot, you must indicate at registration that you will be utilizing the shuttle bus and which location will be your pick-up and drop-off location. Space is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If this box is not checked, it is assumed your child will be using another means of transportation. A wristband will be mailed home with the student schedule and must be worn during week 1 in order to get onto the shuttle bus.
Bus transportation is also available at a cost of $105 per student for 5-year-old kindergarten through grade 8 enrichment programs. The pick-up and drop-off stop must be located within the Hamilton School District. Buses begin the routes at approximately 7 a.m. and operate like a city bus picking up students at designated stops. Buses arrive at Hamilton at approximately 8:20 a.m. Students who attend classes at Maple Avenue will remain on the bus and be transported to Maple Avenue. The return trip will begin at Maple Avenue at approximately 11:20 a.m., then proceed to Hamilton. Students riding the bus will be dropped off and picked up at Hamilton front doors and Maple Avenue back doors.
Dairyland busing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration for the bus is not available online. All bus registration forms must be mailed or delivered to Lannon Elementary School. A separate check made payable to Dairyland/Hamilton, Inc. must accompany the bus registration form. This check will be securely held and deposited on the second day of summer school.
Maps showing the drop-off and pick-up routes for cars will be enclosed with the mailing of student schedules. Only the parking lot in front of the Fine Arts Center will be available this summer. Bus transportation is highly encouraged.
