Templeton Middle School eighth-grader Tate Hutchinson qualified for the Wisconsin State Geographic Bee based on the results of his online test. Students with the top 100 scores qualified for the state competition.
Earlier in the year, all Templeton students participated in the preliminary round of the annual National Geographic Bee by taking a 25-question written test. The school’s top-scoring students competed in the semi-final round in which they answered oral questions. Hutchinson was Templeton’s winner and went on to online competition.
The Wisconsin State Geographic Bee will be April 1 in Madison. State champions who advance to the National Geographic Bee competition will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. The national finals will take place May 22-25.
