Basketry, gr. 4-8 (virtual)

Explore one of the oldest crafts practiced around the world, the ancient art of basketry.  Students will learn methods of reed basket weaving and coiling techniques based on cultural and historical perspectives. Students will be able to create baskets and other functional projects as well as sculptural pieces using a variety of materials, either picked up at Hamilton High School prior to class or sourced from home.

Bite Into a Good Book, gr. 3-6 (virtual)

Nothing spices up a good book like food, especially when it’s tied to the book you’re reading. In this class we will read books from a variety of genres and pair each book with enjoyable snacks.  So why not Bite into a Good Book!

Book Cooks, gr. 5K-2 (virtual)

Book Cooks combines reading with delicious snacks.  Each week, students will create snacks that correspond to the week’s theme.  Students will have the opportunity to read independently and listen to stories read aloud.  If you enjoy reading, cooperating with others, and making fun, simple snacks, then this is the class for you.

Ceramics, gr. 4-8 (virtual)

What is Ceramics?  When clay is formed into something and then fired in a kiln to make it permanent, it becomes ceramic.  If you like to play in the mud or mold things with your hands, you will enjoy this class.  We will make characters with pinch pots, as well as learn techniques such as coiling and slab building.   Clay may be picked up prior to class at Hamilton High School or purchased at the Potter’s Shop in Waukesha. Pieces to be fired must be dropped off at Hamilton High School by Friday, July 9 for pick up the last week of class. Alternate materials and recipes for homemade clay will also be available. 

Cheerleading & Poms, gr. 5K-3, 4-8 (virtual)

Go Team!  If you want to learn cheers, stunts, jumps, formations, and dance, then this class is for you.  We will also learn a pom pon routine.  Bring along your best smile, a positive attitude and we’ll have some fun. Students should wear tennis shoes, comfortable clothes and hair tied back.  

Drama/Theater, gr. 5K-3, 4-5, 6-8 (virtual)

In this fun twist on the always popular drama class, students will engage in theatre games, basic script-creation, improv, in-home costume design, script reading, virtual performance and more. Art thou interested?

Handlettering, gr. 4-8 (virtual)

Take your handwriting skills from blasé to beautiful. In this class, students will learn ways to write different hand-lettered fonts including print, serif, decorative, and script. Students will learn the basics of writing different fonts, adding flourishes, completing directed drawings, and designing complete projects that can be made at home with some basic materials.  We will be writing with different mediums including pencil, marker, and pen. Some knowledge and proficiency in cursive is needed. 

Lights Camera Action!, gr.4-8 (virtual)

This class is a general introduction to video broadcasting and studio media production. Students will experience single and multiple camera productions of news, sports, green screen and other productions. Students will learn camera operations, control room roles and responsibilities, and how to be on-camera talent. If you have ever wanted to be on TV, work for SportsCenter or just like making your own movies at home, then this class is for you.

Math Fun, gr. 5K-2 (virtual)

This hands-on math class is full of fun and exciting games geared toward each student’s grade level.  Students will gain an appreciation for math and how to apply it to real life concepts.  Students who like to have fun while learning should take this class.

It’s the perfect time to learn a new language! Explore Spanish with others in this virtual world where you will converse, play language games, and be exposed to introductory Spanish language and culture. Join me for some summer Spanish fun and learn some basics like colors, letters, numbers and everyday phrases using songs and fun actions or get prepared for your middle and high school Spanish classes and practice every day phrases.

This class is for the student who has previously enjoyed Spanish.  We’ll expand on the experiences of Beginning Spanish as students engage in basic conversations, telling time, singing, games, and new projects.  Come have fun in Spanish.

This class is geared for the student athlete.  It is not sport specific, but will develop the necessary speed, agility and strength for all individuals. Hamilton coaching staff members will supervise each student’s personal program.  The goal is to take the student to the next level in promoting healthy, life-long physical activity.

Upcycled Crafts, gr. 4-8 (virtual)

Get crafty with household items you would typically recycle or toss. Upcycle that plastic water bottle into a beautiful sun catcher, take that soup can to the next level by creating a playful pencil holder, weave a whimsical basket from a magazine and more. Supplies for this course will come directly from your home. A list of items to collect will be available before the start of the course.

Join this introductory class to Yoga and wellness.  The benefits for boys and girls will be increased flexibility, strength, focus and general knowledge of healthy eating and living.  Students will build self-confidence and foster a feeling of self-empowerment in fitness and wellness while having fun and being active.
