Welcome to our summer program! Classes will be held at Maple Avenue Elementary School which is located at W240 N6059 Maple Avenue in Sussex, WI 53089. Your child’s teacher will supply a nametag on the first day of school. Each child should wear this nametag daily during the first week of school.
School begins on Monday, June 18 and ends on Wednesday, July 18. Summer Opportunities classes are not in session on Wednesday, July 4 through Friday, July 6. Remember that attendance is taken daily, so please call in an absence at (262) 246-4220. A note informing us of a planned absence is extremely helpful.
Actual class time is from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. If you are providing your child’s transportation, please plan to arrive between 8:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. Each day we are asking you to park your car in the Maple parking lot, escort your child into the building through the main doors and promptly take him/her to their classroom. We are hoping that parents who drive will have exited the parking lot by the time the buses arrive at 8:45. When picking up your child, park your car and enter the building at the gymnasium entrance and pick up your child in the GYM. Pick-up time for those students not riding the bus is between 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
During the week of June 11, students riding the Dairyland bus will be mailed a schedule and a bus band and students riding a shuttle bus will be mailed a red wristband. If there will be any change to your child’s end of the day routine, please fill out the Pickup Permission form and have your child give it to their teacher. Please make copies as needed. Without a note, your child will be instructed to follow their normal routine.
A backpack is not required for this class; however, notes and projects will go home periodically, and it would be helpful to have a backpack to put them in. If your child will be riding either the Dairyland bus or the shuttle bus, we highly encourage you to place a tag with your child’s first and last name on it, along with the bus wristband at the top of the backpack so that it is easily identifiable.
If your child will be attending Get Set for 4K, we would ask that you send a complete change of clothes in a labeled plastic bag with your child. This is not only necessary for toileting accidents, but also in case of unexpected juice spills and other surprises. We also ask that you send a labeled paint smock for your child. An oversized pullover shirt works well.
If your child may need a medication (inhaler, Epipen, etc.) to be given during school hours, please drop it off at the Maple Avenue office on their first day of summer school and pick it up on your child’s last day of summer school.
If you have any questions, feel free to call the Summer Opportunities Office at (262) 255-3653.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you!
