Welcome to Marcy Elementary! I’m Courtney DeArmond and I’m proud to serve the students, staff, and families of the incredible Marcy Elementary School community.
Education is a gift and an adventure. My own has brought me to many wonderful places and allowed me to meet many exceptional people along the way. Upon graduating from Concordia University-Chicago in 2006, I began my teaching career as a 5th grade teacher in the western suburbs of Chicago. While there, I attended Northern Illinois University to earn a Master’s degree as a reading specialist and literacy coach. In 2011, my husband and I relocated to Manitowoc, WI. I spent three years teaching 7th grade Literacy in Chilton before joining the Manitowoc Public School District where I served as a 5th grade teacher for three years and administrator for six years. In 2023, we relocated to the Milwaukee area and I became principal at Marcy.
I believe that all students can succeed, no exceptions! Each child possesses their own unique set of gifts and talents. Helping students find and showcase these gifts is an important part of what the caring, dedicated, and passionate staff at Marcy does each day, and has been doing since the mid-1800s, to inspire the education of our students. The current staff of Marcy continues this proud history by living out our mission and helping our students strive toward our vision every day. At Marcy we inspire dreams, celebrate learning, and embrace the future together. In everything we do, we work hard to make today our best day all while being respectful, responsible and safe. We are Marcy Eagles!
Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dog, Auggie, exploring other cultures through travel, curling up with a good book, challenging others to a game of mini golf, watching Cubs games, trying new ice cream flavors, and playing the piano. I look forward to meeting you and your family. I value open and honest communication and collaboration, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas.
Looking forward to a great year together,
Courtney DeArmond • Principal
