It must be in the water…from Principal Brian Balfany

Lannon Families,

We truly have a lot to celebrate at Lannon this year. New learning, new experiences, new friends, and more, we appreciate sharing it all with you. We are fortunate to continue to benefit from such a strong school community and we couldn’t be more grateful.

One group we are particularly grateful for is our wonderful Home & School. This year Lannon Home & School arranged for an amazing Fun Run (including sliming the principal) that kicked off our year and funded many exciting opportunities at Lannon including: class field trips, Movie Night, Pancake Breakfast, Book Fair purchases for all, Lannon All School Skate, playground equipment, library furniture, and more. The Lannon Dodgeball Tournament brought in record participants this year! Our Home & School has even more in store for next year. Thank you to all who participated, donated, and volunteered. We hope you’ll join us again for events in 2019-20.

We are also grateful for our students and staff. We see many transitions this year as Silver Spring Intermediate School comes online and our 5th grades transition out of the elementary buildings. In addition to our departing 4th and 5th grade students we would like to also acknowledge the special efforts of our transitioning staff.

  • Mrs. Casper (music) is retiring at the end of this year. Thank you Mrs. Casper for your countless hours spent on behalf of our Lannon musicians. Your legacy will live on in song.
  • Mr. Brezenski (5), Mr. Schramek (5), Ms. Weiss (3), Ms. Lewis (special education), Mr. Gornick (band), Mrs. Menzel (music) and Mrs. Skaros (art) will be transitioning to Silver Spring Intermediate School. We thank them for their outstanding contributions to Lannon and we are excited for them to continue to serve our district and our learners.
  • Dr. Ribar (psychologist), Mrs. Berry (interventionist), and Mrs. Basler (para), are transitioning to other buildings in the district. They have brought exceptional value to our organization and we are excited to be able to continue to draw upon their expertise, though we’re saddened they won’t be directly servicing our learners at Lannon.
  • Mrs. Supercynski (para), Ms. Weissbach (para), Mrs. Chetney (para) and Ms. Esparza (para) are all pursuing opportunities outside of Hamilton and we wish them all the best! Thank you for serving our learners with great care and compassion.

With these transitions comes new opportunities as we presently occupy every single space in the building and we will soon have a bit of space available for special projects and anticipated growth.

Of course we are grateful for you. Thank you! Lannon is a special place because families and staff are able to work hand-in-hand to support our learners. We hope you all have a summer filled with fun and relaxation. We look forward to seeing many of you in the Summer Opportunities program. To our departing fourth and fifth-graders, we wish you the best of luck. Please come back and visit! To the rest of you, we’ll see you in the fall when we kick off our 2019-20 school year with our Great Start Conferences.

With gratitude,
Brian Balfany
