Paraprofessional – Instructional & Supervision, Woodside Elementary School, 28.75 hours/week

Qualifications: Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults, ability to communicate instructions and directions clearly and effectively to students, experience working with computers, possess strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and organization skills; previous work in a classroom setting and/or teaching experience preferred.

Position Goal: Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assist students on an individual basis or in small groups with academic and/or social skills; assist teachers in preparing classroom materials and aid in correcting papers; supervise testing and make-up work; supervise students in the lunchroom and on the playground and other duties as assigned.

Paraprofessional – Special Services, Willow Springs Learning Center, 15 hours/week

Qualifications: Two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s degree (or higher), or high school graduation and knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of pre-academic skills in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics; successful work experience in dealing with young children, special education students preferred; ability to use word processing/computer equipment; certification (or certifiable) by DPI as a Special Education Program Aide; and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: To assist the teacher or other certified personnel in achieving teaching objectives by working with students who are three to five years of age with abilities spanning across a wide developmental range.  This may include but is not limited to assisting with toileting, feeding including g-tube feeding, glucose checks, insulin injections, augmentative communication, and working with students with physical limitations.  A willingness to learn specific techniques preferred.  Other responsibilities include supervision of students on the playground and during arrival and dismissal (this may include bus supervision).
