Administrative Assistant – Public Information

General Information:

  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (.60 FTE)

Qualifications: Highly motivated, tech-savvy self-starter who is a team player able to establish priorities, maintain strict confidentiality, troubleshoot technical problems, write clearly and concisely, and work in pressure situations. Individual must possess a thorough knowledge of and ability to use content management system web publishing technology, database software and digital movie-making systems as well as proficiency with software for word processing, spreadsheet applications, presentation creation and desktop publishing. Individual must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proofreading capabilities and the ability to work with a wide variety of people in person and over the phone.

Position Goal: Duties include providing technical and administrative support for the needs of the Public Information Office. Responsibilities include working under the direction of the Public Information Coordinator to maintain and update the district website and employee intranet, creating videos using digital movie-making software and posting to multiple platforms, creating and maintaining database lists, assisting with the coordination of various special events and recognition activities, providing editorial assistance and dissemination of news releases and district publications, serving as district office receptionist, providing clerical support for Open Enrollment Program, and attending to other routine administration and immediate needs of the Public Information Office.

Compensation: $41,000 – $45,000 per year plus generous benefit package (prorated).

Paraprofessional – Special Services, 2019-20 School Year

General Information:

Qualifications: Knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, mathematics and writing instruction; successful experience working with students with disabilities; working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges preferred; must have strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; certification (or certifiable) by DPI as a Special Education Program Aide; Two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s degree (or higher), or high school  graduation and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: To assist the teacher or other certified personnel in achieving teaching objectives by working with students with special education needs in special education classroom and/or small group settings. Other responsibilities include support students with special needs in the general education classroom, facilitate effective communication between the special and general education teaching staff, and assist students with special needs with medical and/or daily living needs.

Qualifications: Two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s degree (or higher), or high school graduation and knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics; successful work experience in dealing with young children, special education students preferred; ability to use word processing/computer equipment; certification (or certifiable) by DPI as a Special Education Program Aide; and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: To assist the special education teacher in working students with medical and daily living skills. Responsibilities assisting with toileting, transferring students from wheelchairs to standers, and supporting other life skill needs of the special education students. Other responsibilities include support students with special needs in the general education classroom, facilitate effective communication between the special and general education teaching staff, and assist students with special needs with medical and/or daily living needs. Willingness to drive and accompany students on community outings preferred.
