Communication Arts/Reading Specialist, Hamilton High School, 2019-20 School Year, 1.0 FTE

Qualifications: Certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a Reading Specialist (5017) and licensed in English (1300); and such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Qualifications: Certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a teacher (1316 or 5017 preferred); minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred; certification/trained in district identified interventions preferred; understanding of, experience in, and commitment to a Response to Intervention (RtI) or Multi-Tiered System Structure (MTSS); and such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: Provides systematic targeted and intensive interventions to students not making progress in literacy.  Plans, implements, and assesses literacy intervention services to ensure fidelity.  Monitors progress and analyzes student progress data to guide small group and individual interventions.

Position Goal: The selected candidate must have excellent communication and collaboration skills to assist students with academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and communicative delays to reach their full potential in both inclusive and special   education settings. The selected candidate also should have experience developing behavior intervention plans, annual goals, and accommodations to help students meet their goals and to participate with their peers to the fullest extent possible. The selected candidate should also have a strong background in assessment including a working knowledge of the SCERTS model. CPI Training and previous experience working with students with disabilities at the elementary level is preferred, but not required.

Work collaboratively with staff members to reinforce technology skills in the curriculum to support student achievement. Provide professional development opportunities in the area of technology integration for colleagues as requested by the building and/or District administration. Act as building support for the District Information Technology Services staff.

Serve on the academic, social/emotional, and behavioral intervention team at the building level. Serve on the building and district Response to Intervention Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports committee. Implement tier one and tier two behavioral supports within the PBIS framework and review data within EduClimber around these supports with building teams.

Position Goal: The Hamilton School District is looking for a highly motivated special education teacher at Templeton Middle School beginning with the 2018-19 school year.  Interested applicants should be enthusiastic, positive, team oriented and self-motivated with the ability to plan, create and implement differentiated lessons with a team of teachers. The selected candidate must possess a strong command of strategies to assist students with behavioral, social, emotional, academic and communicative delays to reach their full potential in both inclusive and special education settings. Candidates also should have excellent communication and collaboration skills. This position is responsible for delivering a challenging, relevant, and engaging curriculum to support student learning. Co-curricular coaching and advising opportunities may be available.

The selected candidate should also have experience developing behavior intervention plans, annual goals, and accommodations to help students meet their goals and to participate with their peers to the fullest extent possible. The selected candidate should also have a strong background in assessment including a working knowledge of the SCERTS model.
