With the help of its Uniting Kids and Community (UKC) Program, Maple Avenue Elementary School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 24-27. Red Ribbon Week is a national celebration to support the fight to keep children, schools and communities safe and healthy.
The Maple Avenue fifth grade UKC will launch “Maple Ink & More” as its first school service project during “Red Ribbon Week: Show Your Spirit.” Fifth-graders will hold a four-day fundraiser Oct. 24-27 when they will sell and apply temporary school spirit tattoos in support of Red Ribbon Week. In preparation for the tattoo drive, the fifth-graders are presenting in each Maple Avenue classroom.
Maple Avenue’s UKC is designed to engage and empower fifth-graders to make connections with their school as well as the local and global communities through service projects. Students play an active role in planning, coordinating, promoting and carrying out service projects that support their school, community and world. The goal is to help students learn the value of civic responsibility and problem solving as they work towards completing diverse service projects.
Maple Avenue Elementary School is located at W240 N6059 Maple Ave., Sussex.
