Templeton Middle School eighth-grader Sarah Kirsch qualified for state competition in the National Geographic Bee based on results of her written test.
Templeton students participated in the preliminary round of the annual National Geographic Bee this year by taking a 25-question written test. The school’s top-scoring students competed in the semi-final round in which they answered oral questions. Kirsch was Templeton’s winner and completed another written test to determine if she would qualify for state competition. The top 100 scores in the state qualify for the state level competition.
The 2007 Wisconsin Geographic Bee will be held on March 30 in Madison The state winner will represent Wisconsin May 22-23 in the national finals in Washington, D.C. The state winner will receive $100 and the trip to Washington, D.C. The national winner will recive a $25,000 college scholarship.
The Geographic Bee is sponsored by the National Geographic Society and JPMorgan Chase.
