Hamilton teacher chosen for Holocaust trip

Hamilton High School German teacher Robin Tessereau participated recently in the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum trip and educational seminar sponsored by the Milwaukee Jewish Council for Community Relations and the Coalition for Jewish Learning Holocaust Education and Resource Center. Tessereau was one of 70 Wisconsin middle and high school educators chosen for the program, which included a pre-trip orientation and visit to the museum on Oct. 15 and 16. A post-trip seminar is scheduled for Nov. 10 in Milwaukee.

The seminar is designed to provide public and private middle and high school teachers with accessibility to educational resource materials related to the Holocaust as well as the opportunity to visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. The goal is to enhance Wisconsin educators’ knowledge and ability to effectively teach students about the Holocaust. All participants will be required to develop an action plan focused on integrating newly acquired knowledge and resources into their curriculum.

The Milwaukee Jewish Council for Community Relations represents 27 constituent member organizations formed to safeguard equal rights and opportunities for the Jewish community. The program is made possible through a generous grant from the Helen Bader Foundation, Inc.
