Hamilton High School’s forensics team earned third place March 4 at the James Madison Memorial Invite. A total of 13 entries advanced to the finals, and three entries finished in the top three of their respective categories.
The team award was determined by evaluating the average rank performance of individual team members. The following students were award winners:
- Emily Berger and Maanya Kashyap, tournament champions in Duo Interpretation;
- Ciara Cronin, second place in Special Occasion Speaking;
- Erin Magoon, third place in Informative Speaking; and
- Maanya Kashyap, fifth place for Triathlon Award.
The Triathlon Award recognizes top-scoring entries who perform in three different speaking categories. Kashyap entered in Prose, Impromptu Speaking and Duo Interpretation and is the first Hamilton student to be a top finalist for this trophy.
Focusing on developing students’ public speaking and communication skills, the high school forensics team helps students build confidence and community through extra-curricular competition.
