Children will have opportunities to interact with others their own age and ease the transition to 4K. With a focus on socialization, children will enjoy games, songs, stories and projects as they have fun and get a sneak preview of the Willow Springs 4K program. Parent must provide transportation. Students must turn 4 by September 1.

Have your child join us for a fun-filled class of dramatic play. Each week will be a new unit of fun. Children will learn through play, expand their vocabularies, learn role-playing dialogues, make imaginative props, learn to share, work together, imagine and create. We will use lots of boxes. Our room will be filled with excitement, song, dance and thematic child-made snacks. Parent must provide transportation. (Registration in Get Set for 4K is required to take this course. Supervision will be provided during the 20 minute interval between courses). Students must turn 4 by September 1.

Join us inside STARLAB, a portable planetarium where our exploration of space begins. Learn about the planets in our solar system along with comets, nebulas, black holes, neutron stars, meteorites and other fascinating topics. By the end of this class, you will be able to identify stars and their constellations and know the mythological stories behind their existence. Come, explore with us.

Great fun and memories can be made right in the backyard. This class will give students the opportunity to learn and polish skills in activities such as bean bag toss, ladder golf, washers, bocce ball, badminton and kickball variations. Problem solving, communication skills and even a little bit of math are just a few of the benefits of this fun filled class.

A variety of exciting drills and games have been designed to help students learn and develop the fundamentals for dribbling, shooting and passing. Students will learn both offensive and defensive strategies. Skill practice may lead up to team games and competition. Throughout the course we will stress team play, sportsmanship and positive attitudes.

This class will focus on the skills and strategies needed to play at the middle school level. Fundamental skill development, individual and team defense and shooting techniques will be highlights of this class. These skills will be applied to team games and competition.

Explore one of the oldest crafts practiced around the world, the ancient art of basketry. Students will learn methods of reed basket weaving and coiling techniques based on cultural and historical perspectives. Students will be able to create functional baskets as well as sculptural pieces using a variety of materials.

Beaded Jewelry, gr. 5-11 (HHS)

In this class, students will learn how to create unique beads from a variety of materials. Students will also design and construct beaded jewelry pieces including bracelets, necklaces and earrings using glass, plastic, natural, metal and their handmade beads.

Book Cooks combines reading with delicious snacks. Each week, students will gather in small groups to create snacks that correspond to the week’s theme. Students will have the opportunity to read independently, buddy read and listen to stories read aloud. If you enjoy reading, cooperating with others and making fun, simple snacks, then this is the class for you.

Do you like to be creative? Do you like pets, castles or sports? If so, this class will interest you. In this class, you will be introduced to fun and creative ways to make books. We will learn about the components of a book, brainstorm ideas of what makes a good story and create a new book each day.

Students love to play cards. Learning math facts and other math concepts through playing card games can be fun, entertaining and challenging. We will work with math facts, money, time, logical thinking, fractions and probability. This class is geared for those who enjoy a challenge as well as those who need extra support in math.

What is Ceramics? When clay is formed into something and then fired in a kiln to make it permanent, it becomes Ceramic. If you like to play in the mud or mold things with your hands, you will enjoy this class. We will make pinch pots, learn techniques such as coiling and slab building, and even try out the potter’s wheel.

Cheerleading and Poms, gr. 1-2, 3-5 (HHS)

Go Team! If you want to learn cheers, stunts, jumps, formations and dance, then this class is for you. We will also learn a pom pon routine. Bring along your best smile, a positive attitude and we’ll have some fun. Students must wear tennis shoes, comfortable clothes and hair tied back. Please bring a water bottle to class each day.

Chess and Games Galore, gr. 3-5, 6-8 (HHS)

Play the intellectual games of the eastern and western hemispheres. Learn the fundamentals of chess while developing individual strategies for success and see if you can out-think your friends during round-robin tournaments. Then join us for fun and laughter with old and new friends as we play games such as Pictionary, Pictureka, Mad Gab, Scrabble, Sequence, Uno, Skipbo and more.

If you love to run and like to be outdoors, cross country running could be the ideal sport for you. There’s no running in circles around a track in this sport. The variety of courses and terrains will keep many cross country runners coming back for more. Do you want to build endurance, stay fit, or run a 5K or even ultramarathon someday? Then cross country is for you! Through careful conditioning, form running and core strengthening, we will condition your body to be successful in long distance running. Each day, please wear appropriate footwear for running. Initial requirement: Must be able to run a mile without stopping.

Cross Stitching: Learn the basics of counted cross stitching. Students will learn basic counted cross stitching and backstitching techniques to create borders, patterns and texts. Students will follow cross stitching patterns and complete a final work that can be displayed. Come and explore the many ways to express your artistry through counted cross stitch.

Digital Photography – Beginning, “Say Cheese” gr. 5-7 (HHS)

Love taking pictures? This class is for the aspiring photographer. See the world through a new lens as you develop skills in basic digital camera handling such as how to shoot, save, edit and print digital photos. You will develop skills in digital camera handling, awareness of light, taking portraits and nature pictures, action photos and special events. This class will combine camera and computer use. Cameras will be provided for class use or you can bring your own. A personal flash drive is recommended but not required.

Got pictures? This class will focus on creative photo editing fun. This is for the photographer who is comfortable with digital camera basics and is looking for ways to apply and improve photo shoots, photo editing skills and try creative photo applications. Computer editing programs and photo apps will be used to edit photos. Cameras and iPads will be provided for class use or you can bring your own device. It is helpful if you know how to take photos and upload and save them onto a computer. A personal flash drive is recommended but not required.

This class is a general introduction to the theater and the terms and concepts used in the world of drama. There will be hands-on activities focused on developing and presenting a dramatic production. This experience will include theater games, character development, acting techniques and set design. Gateway to 5K will be an exciting transition to 5-year old kindergarten. This class will be appropriate for children regardless of previous school or play setting experiences. We will socialize, participate in hands-on-projects and share stories and songs. Summer themes will prepare students for 5K as they develop coloring, writing, cutting and gluing skills. Language, math, gross and fine motor skills will be stressed. We plan to have lots of fun.

Lights, Camera, Action! In this class, students will explore the possibilities of iMovie using an iPad. We will create clips and movies by importing audio, pictures, timelines, transitions and text. Come join us for a fun-filled kitchen adventure. We will explore different recipes and learn cooking tips and methods. We will cook, bake and make refrigerated treats. For safety reasons, attendance is important for both demos and labs. Close-toed shoes must be worn to class.

Knitty Knatty Fun, gr. 2-8 (HHS)

Students will start practicing with looms and needles. After some practice time, students will work with the teacher to select an individual project. Students may knit squares to donate to a charity called Warm Up America! or may create a project to take home, such as a hat or a scarf.

Lego Robotics 101, gr. 4-5 (HHS)

Students will learn to design, build and program their own robots made entirely out of LEGOS. Math, science, problem-solving skills and teamwork will be required to make a robot and complete various challenges of increasing difficulty. This class is geared for the student athlete. It is not sport specific, but will develop the necessary speed, agility and strength for all individuals. Hamilton coaching staff members will supervise each student’s personal program. The goal is to take the student to the next level in promoting healthy, life-long physical activity.

Students will exercise their brains in STEM disciplines which develop and strengthen skills in troubleshooting, research, experimentation, problem-solving, invention and innovation. The hands on activities within this course will allow students to create their own engineering designs, use cutting edge technological systems and processes as well as build physical proects from their own designs. Students will also be introduced to a variety of career choices within STEM-related fields. Projects will be based upon engineering, graphic arts, woodworking, construction, manufacturing and power systems.

String Art, gr. 3-6 (HHS)

Come create your own masterpieces. In this fun class, designs will be created by threading colorful string through pattern holes poked into tagboard. String Art reinforces directions, order, pattern, symmetry and fundamentals of sewing.

Take a hike! No, really, come enjoy a week of hiking along Wisconsin’s Ice Age National Scenic Trail. Learn about glacial history and Wisconsin’s diverse animal and plant habitats while getting some exercise and spending time with nature. There will be service-learning opportunities and a photography project to capture treasured memories from the trail. Each day, please bring a backpack, a bag lunch and wear appropriate footwear for hiking. Happy hiking!

Tennis – Beginning, gr. 4-8 (HHS)

Do you want to be a faster runner? Do you love running, jumping and throwing? Then track and field is for you. Through careful conditioning, form running and core strengthening, athletes will work on the basic skills for success in both running and field events. Wrestling is a great sport for students who like to work out, stay in shape and have fun. This class is for everyone from beginning wrestlers to experienced grapplers. Content will include wrestling moves like takedowns, breakdowns, pinning holds and escapes. Students will also learn wrestling rules and sportsmanship through instruction, practice, wrestling matches and lots of wrestling games.
