Graduate Greg Barber, from the class of 1975, will be presented with the 2019 Hamilton High School Distinguished Alumnus Award at the school’s June 15 graduation ceremonies.
While a student at Hamilton, Barber was a three-sport athlete and member of National Honor Society. He was the Milwaukee Metro High School Student Athlete of the Year runner-up and the first Hamilton football player to receive a full athletic scholarship to the University of Wisconsin (UW) – Madison where he earned first team All-Academic Big Ten honors. After earning a degree in accounting from the UW School of Business, he became a certified public accountant.
Barber was a pioneer in integrating non-accounting services, such as information technology and human resources, within an accounting firm. He has been the managing partner for two nationally recognized, Wisconsin-based accounting firms. After a 39-year career, he retired but remains active as an independent business consultant.
This year’s ceremonies will be at new time and, if weather permits, different location. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. June 15 on Grove Field. In case of inclement weather, it will be in the high school gymnasium as it has been in the past.
