Templeton Middle School eighth-graders in French, German and Spanish classes will learn the significance of celebrations held in various world cultures as their school hosts its own Mardi Gras-Carnival-Karneval. The Templeton small gym will be the site Feb. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. where world languages classes will experience the excitement of these traditional holidays.

Students will change into traditional costumes and enter a contest with the winners crowned king and queen of the event. Students also will prepare small floats that will be paraded at the event and entered into a contest. Students will have a chance to make and sample authentic food items from France, Spain and Germany while listening to traditional Karneval music.

Templeton Middle School is located at N59 W22490 Silver Spring Rd., Sussex.
