Hamilton High School’s Academic Decathlon team will advance to the regional round of the Wisconsin Academic Decathlon after participating in the local competition. Some 107 teams made up of more than 1,000 students from public and private schools across the state competed at the local level, and 60 teams were selected to move on to the next round.

Each team consists of nine students in grades 9-12 and is made up of three Honor students with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75-4.00; three Scholastic students with a GPA of 3.00-3.74; and three Varsity students with a GPA of 2.99 and below.

Hamilton’s team is made up of Darcie Adams, Shaye Adams, Daniel Badalamente, Lisa Balestrieri, Justin Buschke, Shaun Heitman, Stephanie Kirchner, Gina Philippi and Hannah Wiesneski.

The students will compete at the regional level on Jan. 9. The theme of this year’s Academic Decathlon is “Latin America.”
