Lannon students, families to help with park clean-up PDF Print
Sunday, April 06, 2008 6:00 pm
In celebration of Earth Day 2008, Lannon Elementary School Green Kids members will partner with the Waukesha County Parks Department the weekend before to clean up Menomonee Park. The students in grades 3-5 will help park staff members from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 19 pull garlic mustard plants, an invasive species that crowds out native plants. After clean-up, participants will enjoy picnic lunches at the park.

The students chose to give back to the community by helping clean up Menomonee Park because it is the site of their end-of-the-year school picnic. Lannon family members of all ages are encouraged to participate in this eco-friendly work day. Volunteers first will meet at the Quarry Pool Pavilion inside the park on April 19. They are asked to bring gardening gloves for their family, work clothes and picnic lunches. Beverages will be provided for the picnic.

Lannon families who plan to volunteer in the work day should contact third grade teacher Laureanna Raymond at (262) 255-6106 by April 16. The rain date is April 26.

Menomonee Park is located at W220 N7884 Townline Road, Menomonee Falls. Earth day 2008 is April 22.
